Creation in a Teapot is a collaborative effort of a Western Australian family.

Sarah EvansSarah Evans is an English ex-pat who has been writing short stories and novels since leaving the world of journalism in the late eighties and taking up the ‘good life’ in rural WA to raise a family, home-school and attempt self-sufficiency.

She is published in a plethora of genres, in many forms and in several countries, from her lifestyle/recipe book Seasons and Seasonings in a Teapot to romance novels, crime, ghost and comedy short stories and poetry.  She writes for the women’s magazine market and her stories have been broadcast on ABC Radio.

Two of her award-winning crime stories appear in Scarlet Stiletto: The First Cut and Scarlet Stiletto: The Second Cut which can be purchased direct from Clan Destine Press. www.clandestinepress.com.au

Her first crime novel Operation Paradise is due for release with Clan Destine Press in 2013.

Sarah teaches creative writing to those foolish enough to stumble into her workshops and is co-ordinator of the Bridgetown writers festival Words in the Valley.  She also edits for children’s mind-body-spirit book publishers Pick-a-Woowoo.

Sarah is a long time member of Sisters in Crime, Romance Writers of Australia, Romantic Novelist Association and Writers Out of the Asylum.


ProfileGabriel Evans is an illustrator of over fifteen books.

He recently added author to his name with the release of a new Five Mile Press series, The Woodland Whiskers. The first two titles in this series are  ‘A New Pet’ and ‘The Party’. These classically styled books immerse themselves in the whimsical world of the Woodland mice.

Other works include ‘Roses are Blue‘ by Sally Murphy (Walker Books) and ‘Annie’s Snails‘ by Dianne Wolfer (Walker Books).

Working in a small messy studio he creates his pictures in watercolour, gouache, inks, graphite and charcoal.

Gabriel paints larger conceptually based works that he exhibits in galleries and art events around Western Australia.

Mary Evans is a writer and musician.  She writes short stories and poetry and has won many awards including the 2011 youth section of Scarlet Stiletto, the Sisters in Crime annual award for Australian crime writers, and the youth prize in the inaugural City of Rockingham’s short fiction awards.

Her work has been published in WA newspapers, Australian anthologies, and on websites, and performed during Shore Lines festivals in Bunbury. She is currently writing a contemporary YA novel, along with short stories and songs.

Mary also dabbles in art and has a small selection of greeting cards available.




profileJacob Evans is an artist with a wide selection of greeting cards, posters and original art.  He mainly works in graphite, pen and ink, watercolour and gouache .  He is working on his first contracted book, illustrating whimsical scenes from UK author Christine Day’s children book of short stories. www.christineday.co.uk
